She Believed the Dark Knew Her

I miss the child who, between two windows, chose

the darkened one, knew how to call,

and when, the wind to her side,

how to clear a forest with a knife–Just ask,

Do you want my body.

She believed the dark, knew her

God would listen if scraped against bone
